International Association for Philosophy of Science

Membership History: In 1983, the British Society for Philosophy of Science, the Philosophy of Science Association, and the Società Italiana di Logica e Filosofia delle Scienze formed the International Association for Philosophy of Science which took over the membership status of the Philosophy of Science Association. The IAPS never achieved visibility and its membership was terminated in 2007.

International Society for History, Philosophy, and Social Studies of Biology

Membership History: Applied for international membership in 1999, and was granted provisional membership, confirmed in 2003. However, in 2003, the ISHPSSB became part of the U.S. Consortium for the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology and is therefore represented via the Ordinary Member United States of America.

International Society for Significs

Membership History: Joined before 1962, but faded away in the 1960s. In 1962 it was already unable to pay dues, and in lieu of dues it offered to publish the DLMPS bulletins in its journal Synthese.

Philosophy of Science Association

Membership History: Joined in 1967 provisionally, and full membership was confirmed in 1971. In 1983, its membership status was transferred to the newly formed International Association for Philosophy of Science (of which the PSA was a constituent member); the General Assembly deemed that the Philosophy of Science Association was a member through the new International Association, and so its own membership was terminated. (Note that it was recorded as an international member at the 2007 Beijing General Assembly.) In 2003, the PSA became part of the U.S. Consortium for the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology and is therefore represented via the Ordinary Member United States of America.

Society for the Study of Islamic Philosophy of Science

Membership History: Joined in 1971. At the 1979 General Assembly it was proposed to terminate this membership, but instead the General Assembly asked the DLMPS Executive Committee to take appropriate action. It is not recorded that anything further happened until in 2007 the membership was terminated.
